Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said that righthander Nick Blackburn has a sore right knee.

``We might have to hold him out of his next start," Gardenhire said.

Blackburn is scheduled to pitch on Tuesday at Port Charlotte against the Rays. He's had problems with the knee while in the minors and has to watch both knees now that he's in the majors, Gardenhire sounded as if it wasn't serious, but something they want to take care now before the regular season starts.

Update: Blackburn will be scratched from his next start. A replacement hasn't been announced yet.

Joe Mauer worked out back at Fort Myers and felt much better, which means he could play Tuesday.

Justin Morneau is still a little sore. He also could play Tuesday. Then again, the Twins might take it easy with him and given him another day off.

Gardenhire said he had a talk with lefthander Jose Mijares, who didn't pitch during the offseason, about mechanical adjustments he needs to make,

No DH here today. So Twins lefty Francisco Liriano will bat.
