The Twins took two of three from Cleveland at home to open the season. … Berrios threw 7⅔ scoreless innings Thursday, striking out 10. Twins starters gave up only one earned run in 17⅔ innings. Last year, they opened with 21 scoreless innings, although that was all against Baltimore. … Gibson battled E. coli in the offseason and had his first start delayed. He is the only player on the 25-man roster who hasn't yet played. All position players have batted at least once. … CF Byron Buxton (4-for-10, three doubles) and DH Nelson Cruz (4-for-11, home run, three RBI) are the leading hitters. LF Eddie Rosario is 0-for-11. … The Twins have yet to make an error or attempt a steal. … Top OF prospect Alex Kirilloff, assigned to Class AA Pensacola, will begin the season on the injured list (wrist).

Keller threw seven scoreless innings in the opener, giving up only two hits. … OF Jorge Soler is 5-for-11 with five RBI. … Six-time All-Star C Salvador Perez (Tommy John surgery) is out for the season. Veteran Martin Maldonado signed as a free agent March 11 and will be the everyday catcher. He won a Gold Glove with the Angels in 2017, and split last season between L.A. and Houston. Perez won every other AL Gold Glove at catcher since 2013. … LHP Danny Duffy (shoulder) is on the 10-day injured list. … RHP Kyle Zimmer, the fifth overall pick in the 2012 draft, finally made his major league debut Sunday after three major arm surgeries.
