TWINS UPDATE

The Twins are 3-3 in six games at Kauffman Stadium this season. … Byron Buxton, Eduardo Escobar and Miguel Sano homered off Gaviglio on June 14 at Target Field when he was with the Mariners, but the Twins still lost 6-4. … Brian Dozier has seven leadoff homers this season, with six of them coming after the All-Star break. … Escobar is a career .421 hitter against Kennedy with two home runs. … Joe Mauer, however, is batting only .182 against him. … Only one current Twin has hit a homer off the Royals' Vargas — and that is Kennys Vargas.

ROYALS UPDATE

Kansas City won two of the three games last week in Target Field, both by one run, but are 6-9 against the Twins this season. … Gaviglio debuted with the Mariners this season, making 11 starts, before he was claimed off waivers by the Royals on Friday. … Junis was a 29th-round pick of the Royals in 2011 but was given a $675,000 signing bonus to keep him from attending North Carolina State. His fastball is in the low 90s and he mixes in a slider, curve and changeup. … The Royals gave up a club record-tying six home runs against Detroit on Tuesday.
