TWINS UPDATE

The Twins have won all five meetings with the Royals this season. … The left side of the Twins infield has done a lot of the damage against Royals pitching. Third baseman Miguel Sano is 9-for-18 against Kansas City with three home runs and 14 RBI — in five games. His OPS against the Royals is 1.738. Shortstop Jorge Polanco is 6-for-15 against Kansas City with four RBI. … Eduardo Escobar could get a start Saturday. He's 7-for-16 against Kennedy with a home run.

ROYALS UPDATE

Indications are that Ian Kennedy will come off the disabled list and start Saturday. He strained his left hamstring May 4 against the White Sox. … Reliever Al Alburquerque was in a Las Vegas casino Sunday when he was called up by the Royals. Alburquerque made 35 appearances against the Twins when he pitched for the Tigers from 2011-15. … Hammel struggled to put away hitters Tuesday in a 7-1 loss to the Yankees. He gave up nine hits in six innings, including homers to Gary Sanchez and Chris Carter.
