Toronto righthander Shaun Marcum throws a fastball, curve, slider and change. He can sink and run his fastball, has good control and will be tough for the Twins to beat today.
The Twins must make Marcum bring his sinker up - not chase the ones that drop out of the strike zone. It's easier said that done. There's a good chance Marcum doesn't give them a lot to hit today. Then again, these Twins can hit good pitching.
Justin Morneau is getting a DH day, so Michael Cuddyer is at first and the outfield is comprised of Delmon Young, Denard Span and Jason Kubel.
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Jesse Crain was OK on Monday during a scoreless inning but still tried to throw too hard at times.
Gardenhire really likes Alex Burnett, who threw two scoreless innings last night. and feels he can develop into a good late-inning reliever.
If the Twins win today, they can dream of a winning road trip, which would be fairly impressive after losing the first two games in New York.
