TWINS UPDATE

This will be the Twins' fourth series against Detroit this season, and they have lost each of the first three. …Gibson is the only Twins starter to have beaten Detroit this season; he got the win on July 22 at Target Field. …This will be the first of six games against AL Central opponents, as the Twins will head home to face Cleveland in a series starting Tuesday. … Brian Dozier is batting .297 against Detroit this season with two home runs.

TIGERS UPDATE

Detroit lost 7-5 to Pittsburgh on Thursday, the fifth loss in the Tigers' past six games. … Nick Castellanos leads the league with nine triples and could become the fourth Tiger to win a triples title. … Sanchez gave up five home runs to Baltimore in his last start. … Sanchez beat the Twins on July 21 at Target Field, going 5⅔ innings. He also has faced them three times in relief this season. … The Twins will miss Tigers ace Justin Verlander once again. He has made only one start against them this season.
