TWINS UPDATE

Their 5-1 start is the best since 2010. … This is not a good early-season stop for the Twins; they are 4-17 in April games at Comerica Park since 2004, and have lost their past seven. In their last April trip here, to open the 2015 season, they were outscored 22-1. … They were 4-15 against the Tigers last season, 3-6 in Detroit, and were outscored by 38 runs. … They have allowed only 13 runs in six games, by far the fewest of any major league team. They finished 30th in runs allowed last year. … Their bullpen has been charged with four runs. Detroit's relievers have given up 16 runs in six games.

TIGERS UPDATE

They took three out of four games from Boston over the weekend, and held the Red Sox to 14 runs. … Despite their 4-2 record, they have been outscored 28-25 this year. … RHP Justin Verlander, 10-1 against Minnesota since 2011, pitched Monday and will not face the Twins. But Auburndale, Wis., native Jordan Zimmermann, 3-0 with a 3.43 ERA in three career starts against the Twins, pitches the finale. And 2016 AL Rookie of the Year Michael Fulmer, who pitched six shutout innings against the Red Sox on Friday, starts on Wednesday. … Two-time AL MVP Miguel Cabrera is 2-for-21 (.095) so far this year. … Closer Francisco Rodriguez is 2-for-3 in save opportunities. … OF J.D. Martinez is out with a sprained right foot.
