The Twins are 2-5 on their 10-game homestand. They began Saturday even in the loss column with Houston but enter this series three games back of the Astros for the second AL wild card. … The Twins are 7-5 against the Indians this season but lost two of three at Cleveland in August in the teams’ most recent meeting. That trip was known for Hughes going down because of a sore back after being hit hard by the Indians. Hughes has returned and will make his second start since recovering. He still is searching for the sharpness on his pitches that he is used to. … Eddie Rosario is on a four-game hitting streak, during which he is batting .400 with a double, three triples and two home runs. Rosario has played in 35 fewer games than Joe Mauer but has more extra-base hits (42-40). … Torii Hunter’s homer Sunday gave him 352 in his career, enabling him to pass Dick Allen and move into a tie with Ellis Burks for 90th all time. Hunter is batting .405 during a nine-game hitting streak.


Cleveland got off to a slow start but is 67-60 since May 1, raising it back to .500. The Indians haven’t had a winning record since they were 2-1. … Wednesday marks Kluber’s second start since missing 19 days because of a sore hamstring. The 2014 AL Cy Young Award winner was limited to 61 pitches Friday is his first start since being cleared to pitch. … 3B Lonnie Chisenhall, who has struggled at times this season, hit his first home run off a lefthander last week. But manager Terry Francona doesn’t believe Chisenhall is a platoon candidate. He is batting .319 in 42 games since returning from the minors. … Kluber, Michael Brantley, Jason Kipnis and Yan Gomes are considered the team leaders. After meeting with Francona after the July 31 trade deadline, the group put together an accountability contract that everyone on the team has signed. … Twins fans can check out SS Francisco Lindor, who’s among the favorites to win the AL Rookie of the Year award.
