TWINS UPDATE

The Twins have yet to announce their starting pitchers for the weekend, but it's a safe bet that RHP Mike Pelfrey — 2-0 with one earned run in 14 innings over his past two starts — will pitch Sunday. Pelfrey is 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA in six career starts against the White Sox. … May, knocked out by a line drive to his elbow Saturday at Seattle, returns to make his scheduled start in Thursday's opener. … The Twins are 1-2 against Chicago this year. They have lost the season series to the White Sox only twice in the past 14 seasons. … Former White Sox IF Eduardo Escobar owns a .237 average with two home runs and 11 RBI in 29 games against his former team.

WHITE SOX UPDATE

They have experienced one of the weirder weeks in MLB history, after spending two days in a Baltimore hotel while civil unrest went on around the city, then playing baseball's first game without any fans in attendance Wednesday. … That 8-2 loss is the only game the White Sox have played outside the AL Central so far. They follow this series with three games against Detroit. … They are last in the AL in runs scored (62) but third in fewest runs allowed (75). David Robertson is 3-for-3 in save opportunities, has yet to give up a run in eight appearances and is averaging an AL-leading 19.1 strikeouts per nine innings.
