FORT MYERS, FLA. - It was just like old times Wednesday, as the Twins catcher came through at the plate to help his team win.

And Joe Mauer didn't look half bad, either.

While Mauer made his spring training debut as the designated hitter and went 1-for-3, catchers Steve Holm and Danny Lehmann combined to go 3-for-3 and helped the Twins beat the New York Mets 4-3 at Hammond Stadium.

Holm, 31 and with only 53 games of major-league experience, was 2-for-2 with a walk. He'll probably open the season at Class AAA Rochester.

Lehmann, 25, replaced Holm and won the game with a walk-off double off Ryota Igarashi, scoring Matt Brown. Lehmann, a strong defensive catcher, could wind up at either Rochester or Class AA New Britain.

"A catcher getting a game-winning hit," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "What a shocker around here."

The Twins overcame three errors in the field to win their third consecutive game. Denard Span homered off Mets starter Mike Pelfrey for the Twins' first run.
