Wafting to see the Twins lineup, but don't expect Ryan Doumit to be in it.
Doumit's right ankle is still pretty sore, which would make it tough for him squat behind the plate. Actually, it would have been interesting to see how far he made it around the bases last night if he had shot one into the gap.
I expect to see Joe Mauer catching today. In a perfect world, catchers get day games off after night games. Jeff Mathis is catching today for the Marlins, for instance.
Aaron Hicks went 3-for-4 with a double last night in his first rehab game for Class AAA Rochester. Hicks could be back soon, which would give the Twins an interesting roster situation. Who would go to make room for Hicks? Clete Thomas has been decent since replacing Hicks, but Hicks is the future and needs to play. Chris Parmelee? I think his outburst over the weekend in Cleveland was him realizing that he's on the hot seat.
Parmelee, as a matter of fact, initiated the conversation with Ron Gardenhire last weekend in Cleveland when the two discussed his playing time.
Caleb Thielbar owns the Twins record with 13 scoreless appearances to start a career. The Major League record is 29 held by Brad Ziegler of Oakland in 2008.
Baseball Prospectus has released an updated prospect ranking. The Twins' Byron Buxton is No. 1 overall with Miguel Sano No. 6. Alex Meyer is 44th. Meyer, by the way, is beginning to work his way back from shoulder soreness and could be pitching in a couple weeks.
