TWINS UPDATE

This will be the makeup game from the April 6 rainout at Yankee Stadium. The Twins were 2-3 at the time and coming off a big win against the Yankees one night earlier, when they tied it with four runs in the eighth and won it in the 10th on Joe Mauer's RBI single. The next day, Tsuyoshi Nishioka broke his leg, touching off an avalanche of injuries for the Twins. ... Twins starter Scott Diamond has allowed three or fewer earned runs in four of his five starts.

YANKEES UPDATE

The Yankees' magic number to clinch the AL East is seven, and they are trying to hold off the Tigers for the league's best record. ... Mariano Rivera tied Trevor Hoffman as baseball's all-time saves leader Saturday with No. 601, so one more will give Rivera the record. ... Phil Hughes was tabbed to start this game, but he's been bothered with back spasms, so A.J. Burnett will make the start. Burnett gave up seven runs over 1 2/3 innings in a 9-4 loss at Target Field on Aug. 20.
