Busy morning already at the ballpark as the annual media day took place. Players move among stations set up around the field and in the tunnel outside the clubhouse to have their pictures taken or do television interviews with the Twin Cities media.

Eric Perkins, singing to Glen Perkins. Who needs coffee after that?

Baseball card companies also show up to take pictures for their next series of cards.

The Twins photo staff took a cool photo of Chad Allen, Doug Mientkiewicz, Torii Hunter, LaTroy Hawkins and Eddie Guardado on the field. All were teammates in 1999-2000.

The team held a short meeting after photo day and are hitting the field as I write this.

Twins President Dave St. Peter is back in Fort Myers, and said the the club still expects a slight increase in season ticket sales this year, from 13,000 to 14,000. This was a club that had over 23,000 season ticket holders during the first three years at Target Field. That base has taken a hit as the team strung together 90-loss seasons. With the group of young players either in place or who are on the way, the should see that number rise again over the next few seasons.

There was a lot of energy in the clubhouse today. Trevor Plouffe claims the team is ready to start playing games. The Twins will have had four full-squad workouts before spring games begin. Just four. But there's no better way for players to work on things than in game situations. So bring on the games.

Here's my annual reminder that spring training is nothing but 34 fake games before 162 real ones. The Twins get their chance to play games starting tomorrow when they head to Jet Blue Park to play the Red Sox. Phil Hughes will start for the Twins while Henry Owens starts for Boston.

The same two teams will play on Thursday at Hammond Stadium. Hunter, in camp as a special instructor, will throw out the first pitch.

No injuries. No drama. No drug suspensions. Been a quiet camp so far.

Anyway, check in around noon, when I will answer your questions as part of a live chat. Feel free to join in!
