BOSTON — Oswaldo Arcia is done with his rehab assignment in Rochester. But he's not done with Rochester.

The Venezuelan outfielder, who missed almost all of May after straining the flexor muscle in his right hip, was activated by the Twins on Wednesday, but immediately optioned to the Class AAA Red Wings. Arcia is 0-for-11 in four rehab games, so the Twins have decided to extend his stay.

It's the same scenario as last year, when a wrist injury forced Arcia to the disabled list just four games into the season. When his wrist healed, Arcia remained in Rochester for a month before being recalled on May 26.

The move comes as little surprise, since general manager Terry Ryan said he told Arcia that his return to the majors wasn't automatic upon recovering from the hip flexor injury. "We've gotten away from 'go down, get a couple of at-bats and come back up,' " Ryan said on May 23. "All of a sudden, the guy is 0-for-12 and not helping the team. … He needs to look like he's ready to help us."

Arcia batted .276 with two home runs in 19 games before suffering the hip injury.
