The Twin Cities housing market took a hard hit during January, according to the monthly Case-Shiller Home Price Index released this morning.

Between December and January, home prices fell the most in the Twin Cities compared to 19 other major cities, falling 3.4 percent. We fared the fourth worst year over year in January, as prices fell 7.6 percent, behind only Phoenix (9.1 percent), Detroit (8.1 percent) and Portland, Ore. (7.8 percent).

Only Washington seems to be weathering the market well, with a slight increase between December and January (.1 percent) and 3.6 percent gain year-over-year.
