'The Funny'

Some of the Twin Cities' most raucous feminist performers take the stage for this annual showcase, conceived in 2012 by Rebekah Rentzel and Jenny Moeller of Raw Sugar Productions. This year the show is curated by company members Akiko Ostlund and Andi Cheney, who have put together a diverse team of comics, performance artists, burlesque acts, puppeteers, musicians and dancers. Cheney will emcee as her lovable character Aunt Flo. She's joined by the sly silliness of Paige Collette, the fierce dance moves of Alys Ayumi Ogura, the powerful vocal cords of Queen Drea and other performers from many gender and ethnic identities, who all share a feminist sensibility and a knack for laughs. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
