The officers who shot a motorist after he struck them with his car in a Twin Cities airport parking ramp over the weekend were identified Thursday.

Three officers who fired at the driver were placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure, as the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office investigates the incident.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport identified the officers as: Sgt. Roby Desubijana, 10 years of service; officer Robert Buth, 16 years of service; and officer Dylan Thomas, one year of service. A fourth officer, unidentified, is also on leave as he recovers from his injuries.

Mohamud M. Maye, 36, of Maple Plain, was shot Saturday night in the rental car area of Terminal 1 while trying to evade police in a car.

Maye, who also uses the alias of Abdul Kadir Sheikh Mahmoud, was treated for his wounds, then jailed. His first court appearance has been delayed twice this week and is now scheduled for Friday afternoon.

Police were called to the area in the wake of numerous reports of stolen vehicles. Maye was driving his girlfriend's car, a friend of Maye's told the Star Tribune.

According to the charges:

Maye accelerated toward an officer on bike patrol who had to leap from the bike to avoid being struck. The car hit the bike and sent it flying. Maye then drove directly at an unoccupied squad car and rammed it.

Officers standing outside the car repeatedly ordered the driver to stop, but he backed up and knocked two officers to the ground, injuring them.

The officers fired at the vehicle, and it soon crashed.

The only officer with injuries requiring medical attention was the one who did not fire his weapon, Police Chief Mike Everson said Thursday.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
