You really can't make this stuff up. Just try.

At about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Royce White, a Gophers freshman forward serving an indefinite suspension due to legal issues posted this on his Twitter page: "'REAL Royce White Story' From me. Coming 10pm Youtube tonight. 100% truth since nobody else wants to. Immm Back!!!'"

White just put this out on Facebook: "'The Real Royce White Story" From me, Coming 12am now, World Premier, 100% truth since nobody else wants to tell it the right, I invite the whole facebook to watch it. I'm Back!!!'"

You have to break down this tweet/Facebook post in pieces.

Part 1 seems to indicate that the state's reigning Mr. Basketball is ready to give us some additional insight into the last few months of his life. White pled guilty to shoplifting and disorderly conduct last week and is still being investigated as a possible suspect in an on-campus burglary last month.

White hasn't said much to the media since Minnesota's media day in mid-October. And legal questions were off-limits that day (because of Trevor Mbakwe's situation; allegations against White surfaced after that).

I will tune in to hear the "REAL Royce White Story." If he really follows through. I have my doubts. More on that later.

The second part of the tweet/Facebook update ("I'mmm Back!!!") threw Gophers fans, who thought White had returned to the team, into a frenzy.

After I read White's tweet, I called/texted everyone.

Matt Slieter, spokesman for the Gophers, said he spoke with coaches Wednesday and they told him that White has not returned to the team. So I have no idea what "Immm Back!!!" means.

White's lawyer Clayton Tyler, who has represented him in a pair of legal situations, simply said, "Whoa!" when I called him. I'm waiting to hear back from him, but he was certainly surprised and didn't know anything about his client's tweet/Facebook message.

Another source close to the team also told me that White has not returned. "Not that I know of," the source said via text.

White's grandfather, Frank White, just sighed and didn't say a word for about 30 seconds when I reached him Wednesday morning. "I hope he's not making a mistake," Frank White said.

White's grandfather told me that the Gophers freshman has been upset with media reports about his potential involvement in an on-campus burglary in November. "He was told, along with his attorney, that he wasn't a suspect," Frank White said Wednesday.

Still, White's grandfather worries than any kind of a message through a vehicle like YouTube could create more problems for the former Hopkins star.

Here's the bottom line, folks.

If White has a serious opportunity to return to the team in the near or distant future, and that's something he desires, then the "REAL Royce White Story" will never hit YouTube.

Tubby Smith, his lawyer, his grandfather and every other influential person in his life will stop this train. White has a right to defend himself, especially if he wasn't involved in the on-campus burglary. But I'm not sure a YouTube video is the best way to do that.

Again, if he's coming back, if the Gophers want him back, don't expect to see anything on YouTube.

If he's no longer a part of the team, doesn't think he'll ever return or if he's willing to go against what I know will be orders to shut the whole thing down, then maybe we'll see something later.

Stay tuned.
