Local hero

Kulap Vilaysack, who grew up in Eagan, is the wit behind "Bajillion Dollar Propertie$," a cameo-friendly spoof of reality-TV hits like "Property Brothers." Vilaysack has an excellent support team, most notably husband Scott Aukerman, who hosts "Comedy Bang! Bang!" and co-created "Between Two Ferns With Zach Galifianakis." Vilaysack herself is a veteran of the Upright Citizens Brigade.

On the side

Woody Allen isn't the only film auteur making his move to streamed TV. Christopher Guest gives the medium a shot with "Mascots," a mockumentary about the world that Goldy Gopher lives in when he's not cheering on the sidelines. Guest's usual posse of improvisers, including Parker Posey, Jane Lynch and Fred Willard, make the transition with him.

Water, water everywhere

Producers involved in "Homeland" and "The Walking Dead" are behind "Falling Water," a new sci-fi series in which three seemingly unrelated people discover they share the same dream. Sounds like a TV version of "Inception" but without Leonardo DiCaprio to lure us in. If the first episode looks familiar, you're not imagining things. A commercial-free "sneak preview" was made available three weeks ago, a strategy increasingly used by cable series.
