In a perfect world, "Animal" would be a biographical movie about the hyperactive drummer from "The Muppets." Alas, it's yet another low-rent horror movie, this time about a group of friends, including Joey Lauren Adams and Keke Palmer, who get holed up in an isolated cabin while a predator lurches outside. The crying clown
Nathan Lane, the current King of Broadway, brings his delicate performance in Douglas Carter Beane's "The Nance" to "Live From Lincoln Center." The play revolves around an outrageous burlesque performer who doesn't quite have his act together in his personal life. 8 p.m. Friday, TPT, Ch. 2
Who's zoomin' who
The title of "The Affair" suggests some hanky-panky between schoolteacher Noah (Dominic West) and waitress Alison (Ruth Wilson), but they only bat goo-goo eyes at each other in the first hour. The lack of details may frustrate impatient viewers, but I'm guessing creator Sarah Treem ("House of Cards") will deliver the goods over the next few weeks. The writing, gloomy cinematography and on-screen talent are just too strong to make this a one-night stand. 9 p.m. Sunday, Showtime
