A bite out of crime

"War Dog: A Soldier's Best Friend" takes the human-canine bond one step further by examining the development of K-9 units to assist special operations troops in the war against terrorists. Channing Tatum is among the executive producers.

The buddy system

Chris Geere, who lives up to his role as the self-centered boyfriend in "You're the Worst," shows off his humane side in the BBC-exported comedy "Ill Behaviour," playing a bloke who will do anything to save his cancer-stricken buddy. Lizzy Caplan ("Masters of Sex") portrays an alcoholic doctor.

9:30 p.m., Showtime

Subscribers or bust

Besides "The Good Fight" and "Star Trek: Discovery," CBS hasn't given us many reasons to pony up for its new digital stream. "No Activity" hopes to change that. The channel's first comedy, which revolves around the attempted bust of a drug cartel, includes guest appearances from Will Ferrell, Amy Sedaris, Alex Rodriguez and J.K. Simmons.
