I'll fly away

"H Is for Hawk: A New Chapter" serves as a sort of follow-up to Helen Macdonald's bestselling memoir, in which a bird of prey fulfills duties usually performed by a licensed therapist. Macdonald isn't the most compelling TV figure, but her latest baby goshawk is a scene stealer, right up to its first free flight.

The wacky dead

Dana Gould, a longtime favorite at Minneapolis' Acme Comedy Co., has had a successful off-camera career writing for "The Simpsons." Left to his own devices, he came up with "Stan Against Evil," which returns for a second season of smart, offbeat comedy revolving around cops battling demons in a small New Hampshire town.

Noah's arc

Hillary Clinton returns to the talk-show circuit for an appearance on "The Daily Show With Trevor Noah," the ever-improving late-night series that's coming off a triumphant week of shows in Chicago. Noah has definitely come into his own.
