Whoa!

It's been a while since the Wachowski siblings first introduced us to "The Matrix," but they continue to explore sci-fi on their terms. The first season of "Sense8," which explored various social issues, was named best drama by GLAAD, and while Lilly Wachowski is taking a break for this second season, don't expect sister Lana to take her foot off the accelerator.

Girl power

Disney took a long time to recognize women's liberation, but the company has made up for it in recent years with some of its strongest work featuring heroines in starring roles. Celebrate the better-late-than-never trend with 2010's "Tangled," co-written by "This Is Us" creator Dan Fogelman and starring that drama's star, Mandy Moore, followed by the 2013 blockbuster "Frozen."

Murder in the first

Murder and mystery never go out of style, which explains why the true-crime series "Snapped" is launching its 20th season. Hard to believe that it took this long for the franchise to get to the 2005 conviction of Scott Peterson in the death of his pregnant wife, Laci.
