C'mon, get happy

"Happy Endings" (7 p.m. Friday, KSTP, Ch. 5) wraps up its second season still searching for a big enough audience to secure its rightful place on the network's 2013-14 slate. Reports indicate that if ABC passes on a third season, the sitcom may shift to the USA network.

Behind the podcast

"Maron" (9 p.m. Friday, IFC) is yet another sitcom in which a celebrity — in this case, comedian/podcaster Marc Maron — presents a slightly heightened version of real life. This would be a novel idea if Jerry Seinfeld, Larry David and Louis C.K. hadn't already done it, and with much better results.

The iceman cometh

"Mr. Hockey: The Gordie Howe Story" (8 p.m. Saturday, Hallmark) looks at the great athlete's attempt to come out of retirement at age 45 to play alongside his sons. Michael Shanks plays Howe and "Beverly Hills 90210" veteran Kathleen Robertson portrays his wife.

The race is on

"The Amazing Race" (7 p.m. Sunday, WCCO, Ch. 4) steals a page from the Nicolas Cage thriller "National Treasure" by having the final three teams embark on a hunt involving Washington, D.C., landmarks. This sounds much safer than emulating Cage's "Leaving Las Vegas" and having the contestants partake in a drinking contest.
