Playing hard to get

I assumed that reimagining "Love Connection" for a prime-time audience would force certain frills, but a $10,000 prize, an overly caffeinated audience and a drawbridge from a Las Vegas production of "Camelot" are overkill. New host Andy Cohen clearly digs his role as matchmaker, but he'd be well advised to get over his passion for puns.

United for a good cause

A reunion of cast members from "Love Actually" is among the highlights in "The Red Nose Day Special," a three-hour campaign to raise money for children living in poverty. The block starts off with a themed edition of "American Ninja Warrior," followed by Julia Roberts joining Bear Grylls on an African adventure.

All in the family

TV's latest home improvement series would probably be an afterthought on HGTV if it weren't for the interior designers' last names. "Cyrus vs. Cyrus: Design and Conquer" has Miley Cyrus' mother, Tish, and sister, Brandi, bickering good-naturedly as they take on one overwhelmed client each episode. The two have enough star power on their own to exist without a weekly appearance from their most famous family member, although Mom does make a lame joke about "Wrecking Ball."
