Big-city blather

Most talk shows these days are in a New York state of mind. That explains why "The Talk" is returning to the city that never sleeps for the second time this season. Guests during the five-day stint include Dolly Parton, Minnie Driver, Idina Menzel and Tyne Daly. 1 p.m., WCCO, Ch. 4

Missing mom

Rosie O'Donnell, Molly Shannon and Jane Fonda are among the big names willing to share how they dealt with the early loss of a parent in "The (Dead Mothers) Club," a touching documentary that will make you want to celebrate Mother's Day all over again. 8 p.m., HBO

Making the list

"The Blacklist," a series that re-ignited James Spader's career, ends its triumphant first season with more questions than when it started. Near the top: Can the drama continue to provide thrills and chills in the fall without stumbling into whack-job territory? Let's hope so. 9:01 p.m., KARE, Ch. 11
