Whoever came up with the idea of making Bob Newhart a recurring guest on "The Big Bang Theory" deserves a Pulitzer, a Peabody and maybe even a ticker-tape parade. The legendary comic, making his third appearance as Prof. Proton, offers just the right dose of dry wit to the sitcom's often frenetic nature. This time, he's on hand to counsel a grief-stricken Sheldon (Jim Parsons). 7 p.m. WCCO. Ch. 4.

"Portlandia," one of the most charming, clever sketch shows in recent years, wraps up Season 4 with some of our favorite characters trying to run a feminist retreat and taking a walking tour of the city they love.
