Hi, Bob!

Whoever came up with the idea of making Bob Newhart a recurring guest on "The Big Bang Theory" deserves a Pulitzer, a Peabody and maybe even a ticker-tape parade. The legendary comic, making his third appearance as Prof. Proton, offers just the right dose of dry wit to the sitcom's often frenetic nature. This time, he's on hand to counsel a grief-stricken Sheldon (Jim Parsons). 7 p.m. WCCO. Ch. 4.

Here comes the judges

Devi Lovato, Blake Shelton, Shakira and seemingly everyone else who has served as a reality-show judge/coach check into the "iHeartRadio 2014 Music Awards," yet another chance for celebrities to pat each other on the back. Thirty Seconds to Mars, which features recent Oscar winner Jared Leto, is among the performers. 7 p.m. KARE, Ch. 11

One more cup of coffee

"Portlandia," one of the most charming, clever sketch shows in recent years, wraps up Season 4 with some of our favorite characters trying to run a feminist retreat and taking a walking tour of the city they love. Now if only Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein would do a spin-off featuring St. Paul. 9 p.m. IFC Neal Justin

"The Proton Displacement" -- Sheldon feels slighted when Professor Proton (Bob Newhart) seeks advice from Leonard instead of him, and he seeks revenge by befriending a rival science TV host, Bill Nye, on THE BIG BANG THEORY, Thursday, Nov. 7 (8:00- 8:31 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
