TV picks for March 4-5: Sammy Hagar, Sid Hartman on 'Today,' 'Feud: Bette and Joan'
Looks like we'll have to share Sid Hartman with the rest of the country, at least for one weekend. The 96-year-old Star Tribune sports columnist will be featured during Sunday's edition of "Today." The local legend sat down last month in the newsroom with veteran reporter/anchor Harry Smith. Sid's son, Chad, also shares anecdotes about growing up with a famous father.

Don't finish what you started
Sammy Hagar seems like a decent guy to have a beer with — or some Sammy's Beach Bar Rum — but as a host he's kind of annoying. The new season of "Rock & Roll Trip With Sammy Hagar" again offers a terrific lineup of veteran artists, including Joe Satriani and John Mellencamp, but the former Van Halen frontman has a way of steering every conversation toward himself. Sometimes, it's more appropriate to sing backup.

The good fight
Jessica Lange has become TV's most reliable star, partly on her immense talent, but mostly because she's put her trust in screenwriter Ryan Murphy. The relationship has never paid off better than in "Feud: Bette and Joan" with Lange's Joan Crawford in the ultimate diva fight with Susan Sarandon's Bette Davis. Everything about this eight-part series is a class act, from the performances (Stanley Tucci as Jack Warner is arsenic personified) to the sets. Expect the two Oscar-winning leads to have a battle of their own come Emmy time. Read more about Lange and her "Feud" at startribune.com/tv.
