A fading gem

Whitney Houston gives her final performance in 2012's "Sparkle" (8 p.m. Saturday, Starz), which makes its television debut. Also starring "American Idol" champ Jordin Sparks and Derek Luke, who has seen "American Idol" at least four times.

Get your motor runnin'

Syfy's streak of embracing cheesy action flicks continues with "Chupacabra vs. the Alamo" (8 p.m. Saturday, Syfy), in which "CHiPs" star Erik Estrada gets back on his bike to save the world from deadly beasts. If only Larry Wilcox were playing Davy Crockett.

Bigfooting across America

Sheepsquatch, Skunk Ape and Mothman all do their best to avoid the cameras in "Monsters and Mysteries in America" (9 p.m., Destination America), a new series in which filmmakers scour the country to find people who swear there's something strange going on in their neighborhoods.
