Can we talk?

If you're going to get a narrator for a documentary called "Why We Laugh: Funny Women" (7 p.m., Showtime), you might as well get Joan Rivers, who is still hands-down one of the world's great comics. Also talking about their craft: Lily Tomlin, Kathy Griffin, Aisha Tyler and Janeane Garofalo.

The ratings church

If the executives at GSN aren't already Christians, they might want to think about converting. "The American Bible Challenge" (8 p.m., GSN), which returns for a second season, is the most successful series in the cable channel's 18-year history. Jeff Foxworthy is back as host.

This is the end

The new series "Forecasting the End" (8 p.m., Weather) asks the world's leading scientists about the likeliest scenarios for an apocalypse. Surprisingly, none of them responds with "a massive shortage of cheese."
