A night at the improv

"The Vampire Diaries" actress Kat Graham and figure skater Tara Lipinski may not be ready to join the cast of "Saturday Night Live," but they hold up just fine as guest stars on back-to-back episodes of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" a series that reminds us of the quick wit of such improv veterans as Wayne Brady and Ryan Stiles. 7 p.m. Friday, WUCW, Ch. 23

The tide is high

There was a time when Debbie Harry ruled the world — or at least the cutting-edge portion of it. Narrator Kim Cattrall takes us back to the late 1970s in "Blondie's New York," a documentary that centers on the groundbreaking album "Parallel Lines," and the fashion craze it helped launch. 9 p.m. Friday, Smithsonian

Klowning around

One of our more inventive storytellers steps out for his fifth HBO special in "John Leguizamo's Ghetto Klown," an adaptation of his Drama Desk Award-winning stage show. The comedian shares stories from his childhood as well as some from the sets of well-known TV series and major motion pictures. 9 p.m. Saturday, HBO

Building a new team

Former Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George shows off his gentler side as a judge on "American Dream Builders," a new competition series hosted by Minnesota native Nate Berkus. In exchange, Berkus must play at least one half of a college football game — and live to tell about it. 7 p.m. Sunday, KARE. Ch. 11
