Sunday
"Girls" (8 p.m. Sunday, HBO) closes another provocative season with Hannah (Lena Dunham) struggling to finish her book in one day. I'm guessing that's the same amount of time it will take non-HBO subscribers to get through the entire season when it's finally released on DVD.
Monday
"Dancing With the Stars" (7 p.m. KSTP, Ch. 5), which kicks off its 16th season, always has at least one "novelty" act, someone bound to galvanize viewers because of his/her off-screen persona. The most likely wild card this time around is Andy Dick, a once-blessed physical comedian who may have taken too many pratfalls — or too much of something else.
Tuesday
We're months away from the opening of local swimming pools, but that's not stopping Minnesota's own Louie Anderson from taking an early dip. He's one of several celebrities participating in the new series "Splash" (7 p.m., KSTP, Ch. 5), which might as well be called "Diving With the Stars." Others taking the plunge include Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kendra Wilkinson and Drake Bell.
Wednesday
For a mischievous imp, he sure attracts a lot of big names. "Dennis the Menace" (6 p.m., Encore Family), "Dennis the Menace Strikes Again" (7:40 p.m.) and "A Dennis the Menace Christmas" (9 p.m.) may not have been Oscar bait, but the three films did rope in Walter Matthau, Don Rickles, George Kennedy, John Plowright, Robert Wagner, Louise Fletcher and, um, Carrot Top.
Thursday
If the executives at GSN aren't already Christians, they might want to think about converting. "The American Bible Challenge" (8 p.m., GSN), which returns for a second season, is the most successful series in the cable channel's 18-year history. Jeff Foxworthy is back as host.
