Would you rather watch Brent Steffensen, Sam Sann and Kacy Catanzaro battle it out on "American Ninja Warriors" (7 p.m. KARE, Channel 11) or the Blackhawks and the Lightning face off in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals (7 p.m. NBCSP)?
Putting the Sparks in 'Sparkle'
"Sparkle," a 2012 remake, is probably best remembered as Whitney Houston's last work. It's also Jordin Sparks' first major movie role as one of three sisters in a Supremes-like singing group. Houston is their overprotective mother. The film reprises Curtis Mayfield from the original 1976 movie, with R. Kelly creating some additional songs. 7 p.m. BET
"Mission: Impossible 3" was noteworthy because it was J.J. Abrams' first film as a director. He was actually the third director after David Fincher dropped out to do another movie and then Joe Carnahan bailed after more than a year working on the project. So Abrams was the third choice of producer/star Tom Cruise. But that's not why this sequel is called "M:I 3." 5:55 p.m. Showtime
