Song and dance

TCM is dedicating every Tuesday and Thursday this month to musicals, including some of the most beloved films of the genre. But take a chance on the first night's offerings from the 1920s and 1930s, particularly "The Broadway Melody," which used "Give My Regards to Broadway" and "You Were Meant for Me" to high-kick its way to an Oscar win for best picture.

Land down under

"800 Words," one of Australia's most watched dramas, offers its third season to American viewers, who are sure to get the urge to book a flight to New Zealand, where the series is shot. In addition to the scenery, feel free to gawk at star Erik Thomson as a hunky newspaper columnist raising a family in quirky Kiwi land.

Next week's episode, in which a lice epidemic hits the hallways, becomes a clever spoof of "The Walking Dead."
