Rain, rain, go away

"Rise of the Superstorms," a new edition of "Nova," looks back at the three major hurricanes of 2017 that devastated parts of Houston, Florida and the Caribbean, while looking ahead to what we'll most likely face later this year. Weather has played a big role in Season 45 of the long-running PBS science series; don't expect that to change anytime soon.

8 p.m., TPT, Ch. 2

In the weeds

"Cooking on High" is a new food competition series in which the not-so-secret ingredient is always cannabis. The judges and chefs may have taken a few puffs before each 15-minute episode, because they all look like they'd rather ditch the contest and make a run to White Castle.

Now streaming on Netflix

Oh, brother!

"Big Brother" celebrates its 20th season with few signs of erosion. CBS will plop the series into its prime-time lineup on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays with an all-new cast that includes a former undercover cop, Las Vegas entertainer and former Ninja Warrior. Those who want to spend even more time in the House From Hell can watch "After Dark" coverage on the POP Network.

7 p.m., WCCO, Ch. 4
