Blonde ambition

Heather Locklear may be a dainty blonde, but she's at her best playing intimidating authority figures who can, in the words of that great poet Billy Joel, "wound with her eyes." That pillar of strength is just what's needed on the all too trivial "Franklin & Bash" (8 p.m., TNT), which returns for a third season with Locklear as the lawyers' new supervisor.

Wednesday night live

"Hot in Cleveland" (9 p.m., TV Land) kicks off its summer season with a live episode. Stopping by to participate in the antics: William Shatner and former Minnesotan Brian Baumgartner, best known for "The Office." I'd love to see Kirk and Kevin battle for Betty White's hand.

Countdown

"Futurama" (9 p.m., Comedy) starts its journey to the planet of Cancellation with the first of its final 13 episodes. Sarah Silverman, George Takei, Adam West and Larry Bird are among the celebrities lending their voices for the concluding season.
