Giddy-up!

"Bizarre Foods With Andrew Zimmern" kicks off a new season with the peripatetic Minneapolis chef traveling the Pony Express Trail to Sacramento while sampling foods that sustained riders in the 19th century, including fire-roasted deer hearts, something called son-of-a-gun stew and (for the vegetarians) pine nut soup. Later installments of the seven-episode season will explore Scotland, the Belgian site of the Battle of the Bulge and the path of the Underground Railroad through northern Kentucky.
