The ultimate opponent

You don't have to be a soccer nut to appreciate the fancy footwork displayed in "George Best: All By Himself." And you don't have to be a sports fan to be moved by seeing how alcoholism destroyed the career of one of the game's greatest talents. Prepare to be dazzled — and devastated.

Stark raving mad

To a younger generation, the public scowl of Mad Max belongs to Tom Hardy, who portrayed the angry nomad in 2015's "Fury Road." But those only familiar with the reboot should check out one of its predecessors, notably 1981's "The Road Warrior," the film that was perhaps the most responsible for elevating Mel Gibson to the A list. George Miller directed both incarnations with a merciless pace.

Max (Mel Gibson) and his trusted companion (DOG) wander through a barren and lawless land destroyed by warring industrial nations. The battle-hardened road warrior joins forces with a small band of survivors to defend an oil refinery under siege from the marauding horde that plunders the land for gasoline in “The Road Warrior," a Warner Bros, release.
