As they returned to work after Sunday morning's mass shooting in a gay nightclub in Orlando, Fla.,, TV's late-night hosts faced the challenge none of them looks forward to. They had to find a way to bond with their viewers, as they do every night, but with shared feelings unrelieved by the comfort of comedy. That is what Noah did Monday, June 13, 2016. (Photo by E

An all-star assist

Karl-Anthony Towns hasn't been recruited yet to star in a "Space Jam" reboot, but an appearance in the second-season premiere of "Gamer's Guide to Pretty Much Everything" is a step in the right direction. The Timberwolf's stellar rookie season isn't the only reason Hollywood came calling. Nick Stanton, who created the series about a video-game prodigy adjusting to life in high school, is a native of Marshall, Minn.

Time to step up

So you think you can be president? Oh, wait, that's a different show featuring a different sort of two-step. "So You Think You Can Dance" is back with "The Next Generation." Contestants between the ages of 8 and 13 take the stage to demonstrate their expertise in styles ranging from hip-hop to ballroom. One of the top 10 faces elimination, which should have them stepping lively.

Rocking Cleveland

I understand people are still pining to hear Jon Stewart's voice during this presidential election, but the new guy at "The Daily Show With Trevor Noah" is doing better than most during a rookie season, offering a reasoned yet properly bewildered response to the onslaught of jaw-dropping news spreading across his adopted country. I'm looking forward to his take on the Republican National Convention as the series' trademark "Indecision" coverage kicks off in Cleveland.
