The elephant in the room

"The 75th Golden Globe Awards" will help Oscar observers place their bets, but the real drama will center on how host Seth Meyers shifts gears from skewering Donald Trump on his late-night program to addressing sexual harassment in Hollywood, a topic sure to dominate both the red carpet and the podium throughout the awards season.

Bittersweet home Chicago

"The Chi" doesn't do much to counter the Second City's tattered image or make the case that it's a worthy companion piece to "The Wire," the standard-bearer for inner-city dramas. Creator Lena Waithe, who won an Emmy for her work on "Master of None," doesn't quite have David Simon's ear for memorable dialogue, but she shows a keen eye for casting, a gift that starts with red-hot Jason Mitchell ("Mudbound"), who sizzles as an ambitious chef struggling with his conscience after the death of a loved one.

Joy rides

But you'll have wait a bit longer for brand-new outings. A release date for season 10 has yet to be announced, but Seinfeld recently told Howard Stern that the guest list includes Kate McKinnon, Tom Hanks and Dave Chappelle.
