One angry man

"By Sidney Lumet" consists almost entirely of the esteemed director reflecting on his career. It's enough. Simone says

Fox has moved "New Girl" (7 p.m.) to a new night, if only so star Zooey Deschanel can be in the same prime-time lineup as her sister Emily Deschanel, who kicks off her final season of "Bones" (8 p.m.). Zooey is still adorkable as ever in the durable sitcom, but keep your eyes on Hannah Simone, who is getting more to do as the series progresses. I'm still not sold on her character falling for Schmidt, but Simone is someone who deserves a promotion from bestie to leading lady.

Life goes on

In 2009, Entertainment Weekly named Jen Kirkman one of its 12 rising stars in comedy. The prediction hasn't quite been realized, although she got plenty of praise for her book "I Can Barely Take Care of Myself." Perhaps her stand-up special "Jen Kirkman: Just Keep Livin'?" will finally have her livin' large.
