Morning sweetener

Minnesota native Louie Anderson is once again on demand on the talk show circuit, thanks to his Emmy-winning performance in "Baskets," which returns Thursday. He sips coffee on "Live With Kelly," which also features Viola Davis, another performer more than a little familiar these days with awards ceremonies.

9 a.m., KSTP, Ch. 5

Before the oath

It's a safe bet that "Frontline" will be tracking the Trump administration as aggressively as any media outlet. It will set the stage with "Divided States of America," a four-hour, two-night event from Peabody Award winner Michael Kirk, who has contributed more than 50 documentaries to the series.

8 p.m., TPT, Ch. 2

Made in the 'Shade'

Erin Gibson does a killer impression of former U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, but she's got plenty of other tools in her comedy kit, many of which should be on full display in her new series, "Throwing Shade." Gibson, along with Bryan Safi, will riff on current events with an emphasis on pop culture.

9:30 p.m., TV Land
