Short straw

Facing its lowest ratings since the premiere, "Gotham" needs a great superhero — or rather — a great supervillain. Enter the Scarecrow, who is the latest baddie to get his origin story told on the series. He's just a kid in this pre-Batman world, but his father, played by Julian Sands, is enough of a devil on his own. 7 p.m. KMSP, Ch. 9

Grammy get-ups

After a shaky start, Kathy Griffin should be getting into her comfort zone as the new chief of the "Fashion Police," which is in its busy season. This week, the panel takes aim at those who strolled the Grammy Awards red carpet. 8 p.m. E!

Calm and steady

It's been a couple of weeks now, and I'm still trying to get used to the rhythm of "The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore." The amiable host is much more low-key than we're used to in the Fallon-fueled world of late night. Wilmore's more tethered approach may eventually work for him, but right now I find myself drifting over to catch the last months of David Letterman. 10:30 p.m. Comedy Central
