Starting lineup

"SC6 with Michael and Jemele," featuring Michael Smith and Jemele Hill, marks the first time an African-American duo has hosted "SportsCenter" on a regular basis. The two have plenty of chemistry, dating back to their 2013 debut as co-hosts of the "His & Hers" podcast. To celebrate the "SC6" premiere, the hour will be simulcast on ESPN2 and ESPNEWS.

5 p.m., ESPN

Sexual healing

Katie Couric's lack of in-depth knowledge about transgender issues is part of the appeal of "Gender Revolution: A Journey With Katie Couric," a new documentary that uses the beloved broadcaster as a tour guide through touchy territory. I could have done without some of gimmicks — Couric turning to Siri for answers was a little too cutesy — but the overall intent is worthy of attention.

8 p.m., National Geographic Channel

Captain Kirk

Few actors play charming rogues better than former Minnesotan Justin Kirk and his wily ways are the main reason to check out "APB," a new drama about an ego-driven billionaire who uses drones and other high-tech devices to take on crime in Chicago. The premiere morphs quickly into a fairly pedestrian police procedural, but if the writers utilize Kirk — their most powerful weapon — more, this could be a series worth keeping an eye on.

8 p.m., KMSP, Ch. 9
