FILE - In this 1980 file photo, Soviet goalie Vladislav Tretiak allows a goal by the U.S. team in the first period of a medal-round hockey game at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York. A big reason the Americans were able to upset the Soviet Union in the 1980 "Miracle on Ice" at the Olympics was the benching of goaltender Tretiak by Soviet coach Victor Tikhonov with the score tied at 2 after the first period. Backup Vladimir Myshkin surrendered two goals and the U.S. won 4-3, then w

Radio daze

Turn off the TV and turn up the radio dial to hear musician Chris Thile host "A Prairie Home Companion" as Garrison Keillor takes two weeks off. Thile will return to emcee next Saturday as well, but in between local gigs he's flying Monday to Los Angeles where his band, the Punch Brothers, is performing on "Conan." 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday, 91.1, KNOW-FM

The back-up plan

You expect strange collaborations from "The 57th Annual Grammy Awards," but Kanye West and Paul McCartney backing up Rihanna? I'll have to see it to believe it. Look for Star Tribune coverage of the entire weekend as music critic Jon Bream reports from Los Angeles. 7 p.m. Sunday, WCCO, Ch. 4

Breaking the ice

The story of the U.S. men's hockey team taking gold at the 1980 Winter Olympics is legendary around these parts, but what about the Soviet Union players who returned home in shame? "Of Miracles and Men," a documentary that's part of "30 for 30," looks at the aftermath the Russians faced after being upset in a semifinal match. 8 p.m. Sunday, ESPN

You can call me Saul

Like many "Breaking Bad" fanatics, I was skeptical about how its prequel, "Better Call Saul," would turn out. Sometimes — actually, most of the time — it's better to leave a good thing alone. But just based on the first episode, the writers and cast have done a credible job of re-introducing the "Bad" world without repeating themselves too much. For more on how they did it, see Sunday's Variety section. 9 p.m. Sunday, AMC
