Death becomes her

If anyone is going to make zombie life adorable, it's Drew Barrymore. In "Santa Clarita Diet," the unsinkable actress plays a real estate agent whose transformation triggers sexual lust, the impulse to buy a Range Rover and the desire to chomp off the fingers of a randy colleague. Timothy Olyphant plays her befuddled husband. Your appetite for this 10-part series will depend solely on how much you want to watch Barrymore serve up her perky image on a bloodstained platter.

Road trip

Jerry Seinfeld's decision to move "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" to Netflix next season may not seem like a big deal — but it's a sign that the streaming giant is trying to poach more and more from its competition. For now, Crackle is still home base for the Emmy-nominated series, with a new episode featuring Christoph Waltz.

Here's looking at you, kids

Those still frustrated by the Minnesota Vikings' meltdown — or who abhor football in general — have plenty of non-sports options to choose from during the Super Bowl. Most intriguing: 1942's "Casablanca," the most durable romantic film of all time. And if "tough guys" tell you it's a wimpy alternative to padded jocks running into each other, we'll have Humphrey Bogart come up and see them sometime.

Back in time

Kiefer Sutherland may be missing in action, but "24: Legacy" feels a lot like the original, and not just because of the ticking clock that captures action in "real time." In this reboot, our hero, played with Jack Bauer-like intensity by Corey Hawkins, takes on family, terrorists, the government, police and logic. Yes, the stories remain ridiculous, but creators Manny Coto and Evan Katz have set up yet another engrossing nail biter. For thoughts from them and the cast, see Saturday's Variety section.

Following the Super Bowl, Sunday, KMSP, Ch. 9
