TV picks for Dec. 8-10: Kevin Hart in Minneapolis, 'The Crown,' Maya Moore & Kristen Bell

The second season of "The Crown" gets off to a rocky start in more ways than one. Early episodes focus on a rough patch in the marriage between Queen Elizabeth (Claire Foy) and Philip (Matt Smith), an ordeal that doesn't quite compare to Her Highness' love-hate relationship with Winston Churchill in the stellar first season. The series should pick up when Dexter — I mean, Michael C. Hall — pops up as John F. Kennedy.

Minnesota Lynx standout Maya Moore will be among those saluted at the "Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year Awards." Top honors go to Jose Altuve and J.J. Watt, who helped Houston get back on its feet after Hurricane Harvey.

Kevin Hart "Hart of the City 2," in which Kevin Hart puts the spotlight on regional standups, finally visits the Twin Cities, specifically Baddies Comedy Co. in St. Paul. Locals Ali Sultan, Greg Coleman II, Earl Elliot and Bruce Leroy Williams all do such a find job of representing Minnesota that you'll forgive Hart's taped bits at First Avenue, where he insists on being included on the club's star wall.

10 p.m. Friday, Comedy Central

Kristen Bell may be a little devil on "The Good Place," but in Disney's world she's still an angel. The Magic Kingdom's blockbuster "Frozen," which features Bell, gets a holiday airing, followed by a new special, "Encore," in which the actress brings together former classmates for a restaging of their school production of "Into the Woods."
