Gotta have Hart

Tabloids may be musing about the health of a legendary reporter, but she seems full of vigor in the second season of "Barbara Walters Presents," a nostalgia-driven series in which the host looks back at the news that defined the country — and her career. First up: an hour dedicated to the Gary Hart/Donna Rice scandal.

Leader of the band

Much has been made this past year of James Corden's success, from hosting the Tonys to steering "Carpool Karaoke." But let's not forget who has been riding shotgun. "Reggie Watts: Spatial" puts the spotlight on the "Late Late Show" bandleader, an entertainer who always dances to his own beat. The special will offer a blend of Watts' off-kilter approach to comedy and music.

Busting loose

Watts is worth keeping an eye on, but he's got a long way to go before he has the stage presence, and impact, of Richard Pryor. The comedian's powers are on display in two of his finest stand-up specials, "Richard Pryor: Live on the Sunset Strip" and "Richard Pryor ... Here and Now," both unfailingly honest and undeniably hilarious.
