The boy who wouldn't grow up

Network TV rarely takes exciting risks these days, so let's give NBC credit for reviving the live musical last year with "The Sound of Music." Sure, it wasn't perfect, but more than 18 million viewers enjoyed the anything-can-happen atmosphere and songs the whole family could hum together. The network's follow-up, "Peter Pan," doesn't have as many popular tunes, but it does have the tantalizing draw of Christopher Walken as a song-and-dance Captain Hook and up 'n' comer Allison Williams (of HBO's "Girls") in the title role. 7 p.m., KARE, Ch. 11

Return of the weasel

Pauly Shore's stoner-influenced act may have passed its expiration date, but "Pauly Shore Stands Alone" is still worth watching, if only because his mother, Mitzi Shore, practically invented the model for comedy clubs with the Comedy Store. This special puts the emphasis on his family history rather than his tired shtick. 7 p.m., Showtime

Scary movie

In 1978, Peter Falk narrated "Scared Straight," an Oscar-winning documentary in which troublemaking teenagers are harshly lectured by inmates. The tough-love program continues with "Beyond Scared Straight," which is now in its eighth season. This time, cocky kids get humbled in an Oklahoma City penitentiary. 8 p.m., A&E
