Lost in space

Seth MacFarlane's "The Orville" spent much of its first season trying to figure out whether its guiding light was "Star Trek" or "Spaceballs." Let's hope the series creator and star draws more inspiration this time around from James T. Kirk than Peter Griffin.

Murder by numbers

Living near a Great Lake has its disadvantages, at least according to the new docu-series "The Lake Erie Murders," which examines a number of gruesome crimes that took place in the area. First up: The 1989 kidnapping and murder of 10-year-old Amy Mihaljevic, a whodunit with so many potential suspects that it runs three hours. That's quite an investment of time considering (spoiler alert!) the case still hasn't been solved.

Swing time

"Tiger Woods: Return of the Roar" insists that its star just wrapped up the Greatest Comeback in Sport History. The film, not surprisingly coproduced by the PGA, doesn't quite prove its case, but it's a treat to watch the once sullen star graciously chat about his second coming. Putting instructions take a back seat to a lesson in humility.
